Every year for the last 23 years, thousands of rubber ducks have been released into Lake Elizabeth for the annual Ducks for Bucks Race benefit.

This year our goal is to sell entries for 8,000 rubber ducks. Compliments of Republic Services, on of our long time sponsors, a dump-truck will release the ducks at the Lake Elizabeth boat launch, into a previously cordoned off section of the lake.

Using their high-powered fire hoses, the Fremont Fire Department will slowly herd the ducks into the chute passage which narrows to a size where only one duck at a time can enter the trap. As each duck enters the trap, the number on the bottom of the duck is recorded along with the race placement order. These numbers are radioed back to the boat house where they are entered into the computer and associated with their Race Entry form number which will identify each winner.

Prior to the race, random duck numbers (1 per each 500 ducks entered into the race) are pre-selected as potential winners for the Great Grand Prize (car). This selection is performed by a third party company who is contacted after the first duck enters the trap to validate if it is among the pre-selected numbers.

If the first place winning duck number is among the pre-selected duck numbers, that duck will win the Great Grand Prize. Otherwise, the 1st Place winning duck will receive the Grand Prize of $2,000 and the car will not be awarded. The next 10 winning ducks will receive the prize associated with their placement order in the race (2-11).

Winners need not be present to win.Several years ago our first place winner lived in New Jersey and we simply mailed her the check. Each winner will be contacted by phone after the race. If unable to reach by phone, they will be contacted via email as well.

Entry Fee – Entry is $5.00 per Duck or 6 Ducks for $25.00

Did You Know • The Ducks for Bucks race provides an excellent opportunity for non-profit organizations to earn money for their own cause by becoming a selling organization for the Duck Race. Year after year several of our selling organizations earn up to $5,000, but there is no limit. And there is no cost to your non-profit group to join in the fun and raise money. Work with us as part of the Ducks 4 Bucks race and be a part of the premier community service fundraiser in the Tri-City's of Fremont, Newark, and Union City.

As a selling organization your group can earn up to 80% of your duck sales.

Nearly $16,000 was paid out in 2017 to local charities & non-profits in last year's race. Thank you for your support of another successful year!!!
